The University of Notre Dame Press is pleased to announce that Christopher Rios-Sueverkruebbe, a 5+1 Postdoctoral Fellow, has started his university press publishing career as an assistant editor at Rutgers University Press, where he will be acquiring in religious and Jewish studies. He holds a Ph.D. in theology from the University of Notre Dame. His interests in religious and Jewish studies include their intersections with sociology, anthropology, the body, gender and sexuality, the arts, Latin American studies, national and cultural identity, philosophy, and history.

Rios-Sueverkruebbe began his apprenticeship in scholarly publishing when he was awarded a 5+1 Postdoctoral Fellowship from the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Notre Dame, enabling him to work throughout the 2021/2022 academic year with Notre Dame Press. The 5+1 Postdoctoral Fellowship was established to expose recent PhDs to alternative career paths outside of academia.

Rios-Sueverkruebbe focused on acquisitions duties at the press; however, he also gained experience in the marketing, sales, business, and manuscript editorial departments. “Christopher is a talented scholar, an inquisitive reader, and he has brilliant instincts as an acquisitions editor,” says Stephen Wrinn, director of ND Press. “He clearly has the skills and ambition to become a leading scholarly publishing professional. I speak for everyone at the Press when I say how much we have enjoyed working with Christopher and look forward to following his publishing career in the years to come.”

Previous Notre Dame Press 5+1 Fellows include Ana Maria Jimenez-Moreno, acquisitions editor at Ohio State University Press, and Jenna Kolesari, academic promotions and exhibits coordinator at the University Press of Florida.
