The University of Notre Dame Press and the Hesburgh Libraries announce the launch of the Notre Dame Press Collection, a digital collection of select book titles and chapters available online through CurateND, University of Notre Dame’s institutional repository.
The University partnership represents an important advancement in enabling online discovery and access to acclaimed titles from across the Notre Dame Press’s publications in philosophy, theology, medieval studies, Irish studies, Latin American studies, and other fields.
“It is an integral part of the Press’s mission to disseminate the scholarship we publish as widely as possible,” said Stephen Wrinn, director of University of Notre Dame Press. “We are thrilled to be partnering with the Hesburgh Libraries to ensure that members of the Notre Dame community around the world will now have access to our books.”
The project meets the goals of both the Notre Dame Press and the Hesburgh Libraries to support the full cycle of research and scholarly exchange. It also furthers University efforts to enhance the impact of Notre Dame research activities and creative endeavors.
Three key features of CurateND — preserve, discover, share — and its ability to group works into distinct collections made it an ideal solution for this collaborative effort.

"We actively seek opportunities to leverage established library technologies across campus. This project will help to ensure that these scholarly works are globally accessible and preserved for future generations of scholars."
Since its founding in 1949, the Press has published more than 3,000 books and has long been recognized as a leading American publisher of scholarly research and ideas. Notre Dame Press Collection represents a range of old and new titles as well as best-sellers. The authors include some of the leading scholars and thinkers of the past eight hundred years, including Nicholas Afanasiev, Thomas Aquinas, Maurice Blondel, Louis Dupré, Ernesto Galarza, Nicholas Lash, Alasdair MacIntyre, John Henry Cardinal Newman, and Elie Wiesel, among others.
The titles of the Notre Dame Press Collection are all searchable online. However, the access rights vary across the collection. Permissions range from full-text ebook access for the Notre Dame campus community to chapter-only access for both campus and global audiences. Regardless of access rights, each item is linked to the Notre Dame Press website for seamless purchase in both print and e-book formats.
The Notre Dame Press Collection can be found at curate.nd.edu and is expected to continue to grow over time.
